American Poultry Association recognized Bourbon Red Turkey in 1909.
The Bourbon Red is
a breed of domestic turkey named for its unique reddish plumage and for Bourbon
County, Kentucky. In the past, the breed has alternatively been called Kentucky
Reds and Bourbon Butternuts. The bird originated in Kentucky and Pennsylvania
in the late 19th century, and was created by crossing Buff, Standard Bronze,
and White Holland turkeys.
Our Authentic Bourbon Red
Turkeys are raised the old-world way with the freedom to fly all over
our farm in Perris, California. Yes, I do not clip wings of my Bourbon Red Turkeys. At night they roost on posts.
This means that you’re assured that I truly offer my birds raised wild. My Bourbon Red Turkeys are free of antibiotics, synthetic
hormones, and pesticides. Our Bourbon Red Turkeys are
harvested a week before Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our
Black Turkeys are shipped fresh.
Make Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner extra
special this year and serve your guests a flavor not tasted since the early
days of America!
Heritage Bourbon Red
Turkey meat is flavorful, firm, and moist. One taste and you will never
go back to a farm-raised bird again. A special treat for drumstick fans, the
entire turkey meat is dark, even the breast meat.
A luxury once tasted, becomes a necessity".
Such is the case with the Heritage Bourbon Red Turkey.
